MSK Attorneys is proud to announce that founding partner Liam L. Murphy has been selected to the Irish Legal 100 awards.
Liam was also selected to be the subject of a feature article in the 2020 Legal 100 publication named “Running for My Life” covering Liam’s transformation at age 60 from an overweight and out of shape adult to a runner who has completed a marathon on 6 continents. Liam’s marathon on Antarctica, his 7th continent, was scheduled for March 2020 but has been delayed to 2022 due to the Covid pandemic.
Liam was born in a small town near Wexford, Ireland as the youngest of eleven children. His family emigrated to Wales when he was six and he lived there until moving to Brattleboro, Vermont at the age of 14. He is a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School (’72), Drew University (BA ’76) and Georgetown Law (JD ’81). He worked for Senator Patrick J. Leahy (1975-77) and was an appointee in the administration of President Jimmy Carter (1978-81). He practiced law in Washington D.C. until returning to Vermont in 1983.
Liam focuses his practice on real estate, land use and commercial law transactions and litigation. He is admitted to the federal and state courts of Vermont and to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. He has been recognized as a leading practitioner by Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Martindale Hubbell (AV rating both peer and judicial).
The Irish Legal 100 program is an annual publication that showcases the most distinguished legal professionals in the country who exhibit pride in their Irish roots. Irish Legal 100 was founded in 2008 by the Irish Voice in New York and includes attorneys, legal scholars, and members of the judiciary who are renowned in their fields of practice. Notable recipients include United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, Justices Anthony Kennedy, Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch. Recipients are recognized in both the United States and Ireland.
