City of South Burlington Offers Little Time for Residential Property Grievances, Hearings Must Be Scheduled by June 18

Unhappy with your South Burlington Tax Assessment? Act now or you may lose your ability to file a tax assessment grievance. Updated South Burlington tax assessments were mailed on June 4, but the City will only allow grievances to be scheduled by phone through 4:30 PM on June 18, 2021.

South Burlington residents who wish to appeal their property reassessment must call 1-877-396-0265 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM before Friday, June 18. This call will schedule your grievance hearing, which can be conducted by phone or by submitting documentation via email.

Do not wait to hire an attorney or to speak with other professionals if you have concerns about your assessment. Once the deadline passes to request a grievance hearing, you will lose your right to appeal. Call to schedule your grievance hearing, then reach out for support.

If you live in South Burlington and have not received your property tax assessment, call to schedule a grievance immediately so that you preserve your right to a hearing while you track down the updated assessment.

At this time, only residential properties and condominiums have been reassessed. New assessments for commercial properties have been delayed and no date has been given for South Burlington commercial tax assessments.

Some residential property owners in South Burlington have been shocked by new assessments. This is due to the combination of an unusually active real estate market and an above-average gap since the last round of assessments in 2006. In most cases, the new assessments in South Burlington represent fair market value, but mistakes occur during the assessment process and assessors may not consider all of the factors that impact the value of a property.
